Hearing the Spanish guitar at 16 with its clarity and colors mixed with the fascinating harmonies and hypnotic rhythms convinced me to shift from want-to-be rockstar to classical musician. The music made daily life exquisitely beautiful.

As I practiced and sought my own voice, focusing on contemporary music, arranging John Cage and J.S. Bach, and delving into my own compositions, I continued my Spanish music studies by directing the Spanish classical music and flamenco dance ensemble ¡Con Fuego!, collaborating with dancers, instrumentalists, and singers in reimagining Spanish classical compositions with flamenco techniques and flavors, while adding flamenco works to the classical repertoire.

These collaborations compelled me to explore the folk elements of the Spanish classical composers and vice versa. In Spanish Candy, I juxtapose the fiery passions of flamenco with the subtle colors and harmonic riches of classical music.
